Create belonging in an age of judgement, isolation, and fear.

Is Real Friendship too Risky?

We live in a world where real friendship is hard to find. Suspicious of others and insecure about ourselves, we retreat into the safety of our small, self-made digital worlds. Tragically, even the church can become a place that reinforces this isolation. Jesus models a much richer vision of friendship. Scott Sauls, pastor and teacher, invites you to see the breadth of Christ's love in this book, Befriend.

Scott Sauls is husband Patti; dad to Abby and Ellie; senior pastor of Christ Presbyterian Church in Nashville, Tennessee; and the author of Jesus Outside the Lines. Previously, Scott was a lead and preaching pastor for Redeemer Presbyterian Church of New York City, where he served alongside Dr.  Timothy Keller. You can find Scott on twitter at @scottsauls.

*This book was given to me by the publisher for review but all thoughts are my own.

My thoughts: One thing that I've noticed is that new converts reverts, or even those just switching to the church often feel left out. Looking at solutions to this I was interesting in reading Befriend, and found out did didn't just have an answer to my problem but to making friends in general and how to do so being a Christian. Scot Sauls writes an open guide that's easy to follow and offers real suggestions (without being preachy) that will help you to become a better friend, and make new friends, sprinkled throughout with scripture. If you like An Insider's Guide to Praying for the World or Ben-Hur you'll for sure like Befriend.
