There are a few trends I've been loving that have shown up on both the red carpet and the runway. While I've talked about a few of these you probably already know that modern dresses and futuristic clothing are by far my favorite. So it shouldn't come as a surprise to you that after doing my Casual Summer Metallic Outfit that I'm going to do another modern women's outfit, this one is a bit different though. I wanted to do a fresh take on the traditional floral trend that's always popular in spring and summer. So here's my Modern Floral Dress Outfit as a little inspiration. The look actually has a bit of a Modern Vintage attire feel, but that makes it all the more fun.
Dress - As soon as I saw this designer modern floral dress I had to add it to the outfit even if it is a bit expensive. It doesn't have your typical flower print but instead is one of those dresses inspired by flowers. Using laser cut there's the shadow of three different blooms as well as some leaves and blades of grass. Plus that high neckline gives it a bit of a vintage throwback, making it something I could almost picture Twiggy in.
Clutch - To pair with the cute floral dress I wanted a clutch that wasn't going to be too busy and take away from it. So I went mute on the pattern and full out with the bright orange color. As small as it is it doesn't take away from the laser cut floral pattern and makes it perfect not only for this modern floral dress but one of those accessories for floral dresses of any type.
Shoes - To tie in what is truly a printed flower dress vs your normal floral dress I wanted shoes that kept the look from being to young and girly. I think these strappy, gladiator like heels do the job. They provide so much needed balance and really show off the modern feel of the floral dress.
In addition to doing a modern floral dress outfit guide I also wanted to do a bit of floral makeup without drawing flowers on your face, and with that same vintage modern feel. Since the outfit is black and white it is also a bit of black dress makeup for a summer evening.
Blush - Black and white, even with a modern print can be a little severe on the the face like quite a few modern trends. So a little extra warmth provided by this drug store blush will help fix the problem. You could even make it an eyeshadow blush combo and lightly dust it around the eyes.
Lipstick - I don't often like nude lips but it's another futuristic trend I've been seeing and I have to say that I love it with this look. It really keeps the look from being too harsh.
Nail Polish - To match the clutch I wanted to do a bright nail color and essie has a few of my favorites. It doesn't have to match the perfectly either.
Eyeliner - Bold eyeliner is always a lot of fun especially for a modern look like this. The lines do have to be clean though because it's modern not urban.
