Review: The Honest Kitchen Halcyon Dehydrated Dog Food

It seems like my dog Checkers has and a lot of luck lately. First she received a sample size of Yorkie Shampoo to try out  and then this Honest Kitchen Dehydrated Dog Food sample came in the mail. They mailed it in an tiny envelope, and when I pulled it out, I couldn't believe it was dog food. I knew that The Honest Kitchen sold dehydrated dog food, but since this is one serving size, I expected it to be bigger, and I wasn't sure if this would be enough food for my dog. Well, as it turns out my fears were incorrect.

You an get the Honest Kitchen Dehydrated dog and cat food from 1-10 pounds and even in a 10 pound pack of four. When you add the water, 1 cup = 1 pound and for a small sized dog like Checkers, (11-30 lbs) 1/2 cup to 1 cup is what's suggested for a day. The graphics on the boxes look exactly like my dog food sample, with the orange dog, and yellow background which I think is a fun look that I kind of expect from a healthy dog food.

The Halcyon variety that I was given is

Dehydrated duck, organic oats, organic buckwheat, dehydrated peas, organic flaxseed, dehydrated potatoes, dried organic coconut, dehydrated carrots, dried parsley, dehydrated spinach, dried bananas, dried basil, chia seeds, tricalcium phosphate, choline chloride, zinc amino acid chelate, vitamin D3 supplement, vitamin E supplement, potassium iodide, potassium chloride, iron amino acid chelate, copper amino acid chelate.

Which meats the standards set AAFCO an standard setting organization for dog nutrition. To feed this to Checkers was easy too. Put the serving size in her bowl, add 1/4 cup warm water stir and wait three minutes and then give it to her. She ate it as soon as I put it down too, so it must be good.

I have to say even though I was wary about The Honest Kitchen Halcyon Dehydrated Dog Food, now I think it's great. My dog loves it and it has is healthy for her. If you're someone living in a small space it could help out a lot since it takes so much less room than normal dog  food.
