Making Peanut Butter Cookies

homemade cookies peanut butter flavor
For Christmas from my parents I received this Betty Crocker Peanut Butter Cookie Mix. I've had a long history of making Betty Crocker creations, my favorites being the Cookies & Cream Cupcakes and the Betty Crocker Lemon Bars, as impressed with those two recipes as I was I can't say that I'm a fan of this cookie mix. Although I have to admit the recipe was very easy to follow, and the cookies taste fine, its just not as good as I'd expect these Peanut Butter cookies to be.

First of course you have to start with the mix. The mix does say it only makes twelve two inch cookies, but since its such a small package, this wasn't really a surprise. The first step is to preheat your oven to 375 or 350 if you're using a non stick dark pan. Of course, these temperatures are all in Fahrenheit because I'm an American, like a United States American. Then you pour in the peanut butter cookie mix, which smells so good that my dog started going crazy trying to figure out where it was coming from, a tablespoon of water and two tablespoons of oil. Mix it all together and put it in small chunks on a cookie sheet and let it bake for roughly ten minutes.

On my cookies I added an extra tablespoon of oil as well as some extra water, but my cookies still turned out so dry. Its almost like an egg should have been added but nothing was mentioned in the directions. I also didn't bother to make those criss cross marks (to do simply press them down with a fork). Although these peanut butter cookies taste good I won't be eating them without a glass of milk to drink.
