Nursing Home Gifts

I'd like to think I do a lot of "charity work". During the summer when school was out, I used to volunteer at a food pantry every day. I gained weight to donated blood, and donate my old clothes to either goodwill or the salvation army. I'm sure there are plenty of people who work a lot harder don't get me wrong. What I did today though might be one of my favorite things.

Every year my mother, grandmother and I call a local nursing home and ask how many of the  people there don't have family. We then make them a small gift bag and have the nursing home give it to them on Christmas. It never anything very expensive, but that isn't the point. Its just so that they know someone is thinking of them.
Shampoo and lotion for each of the people on the list.
Candy Canes. Sometimes there is someone on the list who is diabetic and they would get some type of replacement candy.
 A toothbrush
 A lip balm.
And here is the finished package. There are still two things to add, a pillow pet (because who doesn't love those things) and a pair of socks. Oh yeah and a card. I'm not really sure when we're going to go out and buy that.
